For those who think that Barack Obama is an “empty suit” who doesn’t really stand for anything. Besides having a detailed position paper on his website and having made speeches in the Senate on every major legislative topic, he’s also a dedicated champion of civil liberties.
The linked article is a good one and should be read by everyone. One measure he championed here in Illinois was law requiring the mandatory recording of all interrogations and confessions in capital cases. Although the idea had many detractors, he won them all over and the bill ended up being passed unanimously.
