Ira Glass, My Secret Lover

Ira Glass

I’m listening to the Ira Glass Interview on the November 11th edition of the Sound of Young America, which is just fascinating. I love listening to Ira Glass speak and tell stories. He has a great voice, and really projects empathy for whatever he happens to be talking about.

Now, I’m happily married and intend to stay that way. Yet I find myself daydreaming about Ira Glass. I imagine Ira Glass taking me on long walks on beach, hand in hand. He is on assignment, visiting Alan Alda’s mission to help the homeless beach dwellers of Myanmar. Ira, who knows what a fan I am of Alan Alda, takes me along to the interview where I listen to him talking to Alan Alda in his sing-song radio voice.

Ira Glass: So you were on M*A*S*H, right?

Alan Alda: Yes.

Ira Glass: Ok, well, I uh, don’t really know much about M*A*S*H, to tell you the truth.

Alan Alda: That’s okay.

Ira Glass: Did it ever bother you that you that you didn’t get involved in AfterMASH?

Alan Alda: No, not so much.

Ira Glass: OK

It’s not the best interview for Ira, but that’s all right, because he thought enough to bring me here. And we end up in a hammock looking out over the ocean, sipping girly drinks and chatting until morning about how the attempt to clone a long-time family friend went terribly wrong for a one Iowa family.
